POSITION

Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) - Full Time

POSITION PURPOSE

The Music Therapist will provide services for The Therapy Center of PASCO.  Sessions will take place in the client’s home and at our offices and may also take place via telehealth.  The Music Therapist will be responsible for providing music therapy treatment services in a professional and qualified manner. The Music Therapist shall be responsible for maintaining all required certification, education, and supervision required by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). This position reports to the Music Therapy Supervisor. 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides individual and group music therapy to clients.

  • Schedules client assessments and music therapy sessions.

  • Evaluates client capabilities and develops a treatment plan of music interventions adapted to the needs, interests, abilities and medical history of patients.

  • Administers established professional treatment procedures; teaches and guides clients utilizing the treatment interventions within the field of music therapy.

  • Establishes therapeutic goals for individuals and plans programs to meet these goals.

  • Periodically evaluates client progress toward established goals.

  • Maintains clinical notes and records.

  • Coordinates the music therapy program with other services such as clinical, psychological and social services in order to accomplish overall therapeutic goals.

  • Conducts prescribed therapy projects involving special instruction in vocal and instrumental music.

  • Facilitates music therapy groups for clients and their families. 

  • Complies with all agency policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

FLSA STATUS Non-exempt

COMPENSATION

  • Training Period – first week of employment $500 Stipend (up to 30 hours) 

  •  Sign-on Retention Bonus – $5,000 total, paid across month 1, month 3, and month 6 from start date.

  • On-going rate –

    • Bachelor’s Level - $20.60 per hour (approximately $42,848 per year)

    • Master’s Level - $22.90 per hour (approximately $45,800 per year)

    • Therapist will work 40 hours per week.

    • Therapist will accept all new clients until average reaches weekly clinical hour expectation, an average of 25 client session hours/week. (subject to change).

Job requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree in Music Therapy. 

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) designation.

  • One (1) year experience providing therapeutic music services to children.

  • Active driver’s license.

  • Evening availability.

  • Experience working with clients with terminal or chronic illnesses and/or developmental disabilities.

  • Ability to write reports identifying patient goals, outcomes and interventions.

  • Strong organizational skills to balance productivity needs and required paperwork.

  • Ability to travel and see clients in their home.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow relevant office procedures surrounding HIPAA.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of working with clients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, and adults.

  • Ability to move and position self to provide music therapy to all clients including clients on the ground or in bed, and clients using wheelchairs.

  • Ability to transport, move, and position objects up to 25lbs, including instruments.

ENVIRONMENT

Sessions will take place in client homes, at our office, and via telehealth. The employee must have a reliable method of transportation to frequently travel throughout the workday to client homes and the office.

SCHEDULE

The employee will be expected to maintain a consistent schedule with evenings working until 7:00 pm, Monday-Friday. The exact start and end times will be determined by the Therapeutic Services Director and are subject to change.

LONGEVITY AGREEMENT

Employee will make all efforts to remain in the position for a minimum of two (2) years following the effective start date though employment will be at will.
