Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) | In Office | Full-Time | Exempt

Active or pending MT-BC certification through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) is required. Applicants without current or pending board certification will not be considered.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) provides individualized music therapy services to children and adults, helping clients achieve communication, cognitive, motor, social-emotional, behavioral, and quality-of-life goals through evidence-based music interventions. The Music Therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary therapy team to provide coordinated, client-centered care. Services are provided at our Greenwood Village and Lakewood offices and may also be delivered via telehealth. The Music Therapist is responsible for maintaining an active MT-BC credential and meeting all continuing education requirements established by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). This position reports to the Therapy Center Manager.

ABOUT OUR CLIENTS
The Therapy Center of PASCO provides music therapy services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, complex medical needs, chronic illnesses, and terminal illnesses. Many of our clients receive services through Colorado Medicaid Waiver programs. Our music therapists work collaboratively with other therapists on staff and often communicate with outside speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and behavioral health providers to support each client's communication, motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and quality-of-life goals.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING

  • Provide evidence-based individual and group music therapy services.

  • Evaluate client capabilities and develop individualized treatment plans based on each client's needs, interests, abilities, and medical history.

  • Plan and implement evidence-based music therapy interventions designed to help clients achieve individualized treatment goals and objectives.

  • Evaluate client progress toward established goals on a quarterly basis.

  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and collaborate with other disciplines to support coordinated care.

  • Facilitate music therapy groups for clients and their families.

  • Adhere to state and agency policies and perform other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION

  • Bachelor’s Level - $20.60 per hour (approximately $42,848 per year)

  • Master’s Level - $22.90 per hour (approximately $45,800 per year)

  • This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week

  • Therapists are expected to accept new clients until they reach the average weekly clinical expectation of 21 client session hours per week (subject to change based on organizational needs)

    Compensation is based on a blended hourly rate that combines clinical service time and administrative responsibilities into one consistent hourly rate.

Job requirements

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Music therapy is a nationally credentialed allied health profession. Qualified applicants will have completed an approved music therapy degree program (or approved equivalency program), a 1,200-hour clinical internship, and successfully passed the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) examination.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Music Therapy

  • Active Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) required.

  • One (1) year experience working with children; can include practicum and internship.

  • Active driver’s license (REQUIRED)

  • Experience working with clients with terminal or chronic illnesses and/or developmental disabilities.

  • Ability to write reports identifying client goals, outcomes and interventions.

  • Availability to work required schedule as outlined below.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow relevant office procedures surrounding HIPAA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Sessions will take place at our offices or via telehealth. This position will have days at both the Greenwood Village office and the Lakewood PASCO office. The employee must have a reliable method of transportation to get to both offices.

SCHEDULE

Monday to Friday; 1 day 9:00am -5:00pm; 2 days 10:00am -6:00pm and 2 days 11:00am - 7:00pm. No weekends, no overtime.

The exact start and end times will be determined by the Clinical Director and are subject to change.
